Beijing’s Weili Zhang to challenge Jéssica Andrade at ‘UFC Fight Night 157’ in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China

Weili “Magnum” Zhang, 29, of Beijing, China will challenge Jéssica “Bate Estaca” Andrade, 27, of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the reigning champion of the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s women’s strawweight division at “UFC Fight Night 157.” It will be the main event of the evening.

The UFC will hold “UFC Fight Night 157” will take place at the Shenzhen Universiade Sports Centre Arena in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China. It is the first ever UFC event to take place in Shenzhen and it marks the fourth UFC bout of Zhang, who currently holds a professional mixed martial arts record of 19 wins and 1 loss.

Zhang trained Sanda, Shuai Jiao and Brazilian jiu-jitsu before transitioning to MMA. She was born in Hebei, China on August 13, 1989.

On November 9, 2013, Zhang made her professional MMA debut in Xuchang, China and lost to her countryman Bo Meng via unanimous decision. This is Zhang’s only loss so far.

When Zhang made her UFC debut on August 4, 2018 at “UFC 227” in Los Angeles, California, United States, she defeated Danielle “Dynamite” Taylor, 29, of the U.S. via unanimous decision. Before joining the promotion, the Beijing native competed in Kunlun Fight MMA.

Zhang’s second UFC win was at “UFC Fight Night 141” in Beijing on November 24, 2018 when she submitted Jessica “JAG” Aguilar,37, of the U.S. via armbar. On March 2, 2019, the Chinese fighter earned her third UFC win by defeating Tecia “The Tiny Tornado” Torres, 29, of the U.S. via unanimous decision at “UFC 235” in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

“UFC Fight Night 157” marks Andrade’s first title defense as the reigning UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion. She earned the title on May 11, 2019 at “UFC 237” in Rio de Janeiro by dethroning former champ Rose “Thug” Namajunas, 27, of the U.S. via knockout via slam.

Andrade has been competing in the UFC since 2013. She holds a professional MMA record of 20 wins and 6 losses.
