China and the Philippines were among the six countries represented at “URCC Global: Raw Fury.” Hosted by Boyet Sison, it was the first event of the Philippines-based mixed martial arts promotion URCC Global in 2019.
Featuring 10 MMA matches, “URCC Global: Raw Fury” took place at The Cove at Okada Manila in Parañaque City, Metro Manila, Philippines on April 27, 2019. In the sixth bout of the evening, Sugar Ray “The Mammoth” Estroso, Brian “The Batman” Paule and Mark “The Wolf” Palomar of Team Philippines faced Tian Hong Yan, Zhao Sigi and Zhouzhe Yihang of Team China.
Estroso, Paule and Palomar were among the 17 hometown heroes who competed at “URCC Global: Raw Fury” while Yan, Zhao and Zhouzhe were the only representatives of China. Japan, South Korea, Switzerland and the United States were also represented.
Blue Corner
Yan, Zhao and Zhouzhe were all URCC Global debutantes. They were not able to attend the official weigh-ins at the Cove Manila on April 26, 2019.
Red Corner
Estroso, the reigning URCC Global Heavyweight World Champion, holds a professional MMA record of 1 win and 5 losses. Paule has 0 win and 1 loss while Palomar has 1 win and 3 losses.
Fight Result
The match between Estroso, Paule and Palomar versus Yan, Zhao and Zhouzhe was one of the five title bouts at “URCC Global: Raw Fury.” It was the only bout on the card that was not sanctioned by the Philippines’ Games and Amusement Board.
Florence Eusebio and JR Rulloda all served as the referees. They all put a stop to the contest after 55 seconds in the first round when one member of Team China was knocked out.
As announced by Sison, the members of Team China verbally communicated to the referees that they did not want to continue. In the end, Estroso, Paule and Palomar were declared the reigning URCC Global 3 vs 3 World Champions.
“URCC Global: Raw Fury” Main Events
Shunichi “Rolling Star” Shimizu, 34, of Kuchinoerabu, Japan challenged reigning URCC Global Featherweight Champion Mark “Mugen” Striegl, 30, of Baguio City, Philippines in the co-main event. It ended in a No Contest due to an accidental low blow from Striegl, who is still the reigning champion.
Musa Conteh, 32, of Atlanta, Georgia, United States challenged two-division champion Chris Hofmann, 29, of the Philippines and Switzerland for the URCC Global Middleweight Championship title in the main event. The Filipino-Swiss defending champion knocked out his American challenger.
