Thailand and Japan were among the 18 countries represented at “ONE: Roots of Honor.” It was the second ONE Championship event in 2019 held in the Philippines.

Featuring two kickboxing contests, two Muay Thai bouts and 11 mixed martial arts matches, “ONE: Roots of Honor” took place at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines on April 12, 2019. In the second bout of the evening, Lerdsila PhuketTopTeam, 38, of Isan, Thailand faced Kohei “Momotaro” Kodera, 28, of Tokyo, Japan.

Kodera is a WBC Muay Thai International Champion. He also held the  the WBC Japan Muay Thai and NJKF Kickboxing Featherweight Championship titles.

On March 8, 2019, Kodera defeated Kenny “The Pitbull” Tse, 26, of Australia at “ONE: Reign of Valor” at the Thuwunna Indoor Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar. The Japanese martial artist is training out of Oguni Gym.

Lerdsila started his Muay Thai training when he was 7 years old and went on to become a multiple-time Muay Thai World Champion. A Phuket Top Team athlete, he as a Rajadamnern Muay Thai World Champion in three different weight classes.

“ONE: Roots of Honor” marked Lerdsila’s third ONE Super Series bout. He defeated Sok Thy, 20, of Banteay Meanchey twice in the league.

Fight Result

Lerdsila and Kodera competed in a Muay Thai contest in the flyweight division. Elias Dolaptsis served as the referee.

After three three-minute rounds, the flyweight bout was left in the hands of the judges. In the end, Dolaptsis raised the hand of Lerdsila, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision.

Winning at “ONE: Roots of Honor” improved Lerdsila’s professional Muay Thai record to 189 wins, 31 losses and 5 draws. On the other hand, Kodera now has 27 wins, 10 losses and 1 draw.

“ONE: Roots of Honor” Main Events

In the co-main event, Joshua “The Passion” Pacio, 23, of the Philippines challenged reigning ONE Strawweight World Champion Yosuke “The Ninja” Saruta, 31, of Japan in a rematch. The Filipino challenger knocked out the Japanese defending champion in the fourth round.

In the main event, reigning ONE Featherweight World Champion Martin “The Situ-Asian” Nguyen, 29, of Australia and Vietnam defended his belt against former champion Narantungalag “Tungaa” Jadambaa, 43, of Mongolia. The Vietnamese-Australian defending champion knocked out the Mongolian challenger in the second round.

Afghanistan, Australia, Brazil, China, Cuba, Indonesia, Mongolia, Morocco, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Romania, Serbia, Singapore, South Korea, Vietnam and the United States were also represented at “ONE: Roots of Honor.” Check the complete results on Conan Daily.
