Russia vs Brazil: Rustam Chsiev, Bruno Assis fight at ‘Brave 21: Saudi Arabia’ in Jeddah

Russia and Brazil were among the 11 countries represented at the Brave Combat Federation event “Brave 21: Saudi Arabia” held on December 28, 2018 at the King Abdullah Sports City Indoor Sports Hall in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. It is the final event of the Bahrain-based mixed martial arts promotion in 2018.

Featuring 10 MMA bouts, “Brave 21: Saudi Arabia” is the first Brave CF event to be held in Saudi Arabia. In the  second bout of the evening, Rustam “Russian Bear” Chsiev of Vladikavkaz, North Ossetia-Alania, Russia faced Bruno “Brunão” Assis of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil.

Blue Corner

Born in Brazil on May 23, 1992, Assis has been competing professionally since 2015. When he made his Brave CF debut at “Brave 11” on April 13, 2018 in Belo Horizonte,  he submitted Douglas “Mahal” Carvalho of Rio de Janeiro via armbar.

“Brave 21: Saudi Arabia” marked Assis’s second Brave CF bout. Three fighters represented Brazil in the event namely Assis, Gabriel Miranda and Geraldo Coelho.

Red Corner

Born in Vladikavkaz, Chsiev has been competing professionally since 2016.  He trains out of K-Dojo Warrior Tribe in Fairfield, New Jersey, United States under the tutelage of Murat “Master K” Keshtov.

“Brave 21: Saudi Arabia” marked Chsiev’s Brave CD debut. Six fighters represented Russia in the event namely Chsiev, Akhmed Magomedov, Usman Nurmagomedov, Ikram Aliskerov, Gadzhimusa Gadzhiev and Marat Magomedov.

Fight Result

Chsiev and Assis competed in the middleweight division. The referee put a stop to the contest in the second round when the Brazilian fighter submitted his Russian opponent via triangle choke.

Winning at “Brave 21: Saudi Arabia” improved Assis’s professional MMA record to 9 wins and 3 losses. On the other hand, Chsiev now has 2 wins and 2 losses.

“Brave 21: Saudi Arabia” Main Events

In the co-main event of the evening, Gadzhimusa “Deadshot” Gadzhiev of Makhachkala, Dagestan, Russia faced Rami “The Russian” Hamed of Beirut, Lebanon in the welterweight division. The Lebanese fighter knocked out his Dagestani opponent in the first round.

In the main event, Marat Magomedov of Makhachkala, Dagestan, Russia and Jeremy “JBC” Kennedy of Surrey, British Columbia, Canada battled it out in the featherweight division. The Canadian contender knocked out his Dagestani opponent in the third round.

Bahrain, Canada, China, Egypt, Japan, Lebanon, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Syria were also represented at “Brave 21: Saudi Arabia.” Check the complete results here.
