The Philippines and China were among the 14 countries represented at “ONE: Conquest of Champions” on November 23, 2018. Taking place at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines, it is the fourth and last ONE Championship event in the Philippines in 2018.
“ONE: Conquest of Champions” featured eight mixed martial arts matches, two Muay Thai bouts and two kickboxing contests. In the third bout of the evening, Jeremy “The Jaguar” Miado, 25, of Marikina City, Metro Manila, Philippines faced Peng Xue Wen, 22, of Zhongshan, Guangdong, China.
Peng is a Chinese Greco-Roman Wrestling Champion training at Nan Yan Fight Club. He knocked out Eddey Kalai at “ONE: Battle for the Heavens” on July 7, 2018 and defeated Stefer “The Lion” Rahardian, 31, of Jakarta, Indonesia via unanimous decision at “ONE: Conquest of Heroes” on September 22, 2018.
The last time Peng lost in the ONE Championship cage was on January 20, 2018 at “ONE: Kings of Courage.” He was knocked out via punches by Rene “The Challenger” Catalan, 39, of the Philippines.
The Zhongshan native is representing Ninja MMA. “ONE: Conquest of Champions” marked his fifth ONE Championship bout.
Miado was coming out of a unanimous decision loss to Kritsada “Dream Man” Kongsrichai, 26, of Thailand. The two battled it out at “ONE: Spirit of a Warrior” on June 29, 2018.
The last time Miado won in the ONE Championship cage was on March 24, 2018 at “ONE: Iron Will.” He knocked out Dejdamrong “Kru Rong” Sor Amnuaysirichoke, 40, of Thailand via punch.
Recently, Miado spent two weeks in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia to train with AJ “Pyro” Lias Mansor, 43, at Borneo Tribal Squad. “ONE: Conquest of Champions” marked the Filipino fighter’s fifth ONE Championship bout.
Miado and Peng competed in an MMA match in the strawweight division. Referee Yuji Shimada put a stop to the bout after 35 seconds in the second round when the Filipino contender knocked out his Chinese opponent.
Winning at “ONE: Conquest of Champions” improved Miado’s professional MMA record to 8 wins and 3 losses. On the other hand, Peng now has 3 wins and 4 losses.
“ONE: Conquest of Champions” Main Events
In the co-main event of the evening, Eduard “Landslide” Folayang, 34, of Baguio City, Philippines and Amir Khan, 23, of Singapore competed for the vacant ONE Lightweight World Championship. After five five-minute rounds, the Filipino contender won via unanimous decision.
In the main event, Mauro “The Hammer” Cerilli, 35, of Terracina, Latina, Italy challenged reigning ONE Heavyweight World Champion Brandon “The Truth” Vera, 41, of Manila, Philippines. The Filipino defending champion knocked out his Italian challenger in the first round.
