The Philippines’ 2022 Red Bull Dance Your Style finals will be held at the Bonifacio High Street Amphitheatre in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, Metro Manila, Philippines on July 23, 2022. Handpicked by Philippine All-Stars member Vince Mendoza, 16 dancers from across the country will compete in the finals.

“The selection process was not easy and hard, as well,” Mendoza said. “Can you imagine gathering talented people and sizing up their skill-set? It’s like a dream and also having that excitement during the selection process.”

Among the 16 dancers are Mickey Paolo Yatar of Baguio City, Philippines and Keycee Velez of Parañaque, Metro Manila. They both specialize in waacking.

The winner will represent the Philippines at the 2022 Red Bull Dance Your Style world finals in Johannesburg, South Africa on December 10, 2022. He or she will compete against over 60 dancers from 30 countries.

On October 12, 2019, B-Boy Shinshan, then 17, of the Netherlands won the first ever Red Bull Dance Your Style world final at La Grande Halle de la Villette in Paris, France. The 2022 world final marks the first time the Philippines is represented in the global dance competition.

Each round of every Red Bull Dance Your Style battle consists of two thrilling rounds with the disc jockey spinning mixes of different genres ranging from modern pop and rap music to old-school classics. The competitors need to prove that they have rhythm, movement, creativity and charisma since capturing the crowd’s attention and acquiring their approval is the only way to secure a spot in the next round of the competition.
