Kathleen Joy Paton, 24, of Aklan, Philippines was crowned Miss Eco International 2022 at the Jolie Ville Resort & SPA kings Island Luxor in Luxor, Egypt on March 17, 2022. It was the seventh edition of the international beauty pageant.
Hosted by Miss Earth Egypt 2014 Nancy Magdy, 28, the Miss Eco International 2022 coronation night featured a performance by Nour Abdel Salam. The judges were Dr. Amaal Rezk, Fatma Elshazly, Hend Farouk, Hoda Kamal, Mahmoud Ghali, Dr. Bahy Hany, Farah Shabaan, Dr. Hossam Tahseen and Simone Kamel.
Runner-up to Paton is Chloë Reweghs, 22, of Belgium while Jesaura “Jessy” Peralta of the United States, Lucia Morales of Spain and Prasana Shri, 24, of Malaysia are the respective second, third and fourth runners-up. A total of 40 candidates competed for the title.
Before winning the Miss Eco International 2022 crown, Paton won the Best Eco Video award. In the video, she said, “Due to our geographical location, we are visited by an average of 20 typhoons and storms a year, wreaking havoc wherever it lands.”
“Scientists around the world agree that climate change has a huge impact on typhoons,” Paton continued. “That’s why my aim as Miss Eco Philippines is to inspire people to join this movement and educate them in saving our planet Earth.”
Paton is the second Miss Eco International from the Philippines. The first one is Cynthia Magpatoc Thomalla, 27, of Southern Leyte, Philippines, who was crowned in Cairo, Egypt on April 27, 2018.
On March 29, 2019, Maureen Montagne, 28, of Batangas, Philippines became runner-up to Miss Eco International 2020 Suheyn Cipriani of Peru. When Peruvian titleholder was dethroned due to pregnancy, the Filipino runner-up refused the title.
Representing the Philippines, Montagne was crowned Miss Globe 2021 in Tirana, Albania on November 5, 2021. On April 4, 2021, Kelley Day, 24, of Tarlac, Philippines became runner-up to Miss Eco International 2021 Gizzelle Mandy Uys, 24, of South Africa.
