Borongan’s Gabrielle Basiano is Bb. Pilipinas 2021 first runner-up

Gabrielle Camille Basiano, 23, of Borongan, Eastern Samar, Philippines almost won one of the Binibining Pilipinas 2021 crowns. She was first runner-up while Meiji Cruz, 27, of Valenzuela City, Metro Manila, Philippines was second runner-up.

Hosted by Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray and Miss Grand International 2016 first runner-up Nicole Cordoves, the Bb. Pilipinas 2021 coronation night took place at the New Frontier Theater in Quezon City, Metro Manila on July 11, 2021. Including Basiano and Cruz, 34 Filipino women competed for the four titles.

It was Hannah Consencino Arnold, 25, of Masbate who won the highest title, which is Miss International Philippines 2021. She will represent the Philippines at Miss International 2021 in Japan in November 2021.

The other three crowned queens were Miss Grand Philippines 2021 Samantha Alexandra Panlilio, 25, of Cavite, Miss Intercontinental Philippines 2021 Cinderella Faye Obeñita, 25, of Cagayan de Oro and Miss Globe Philippines 2021 Maureen Montagne, 27, of Batangas. The dates and venues of their respective international pageants have yet to be announced.

Several previous Bb. Pilipinas first runners-up went on to become successful in international beauty pageants. Bb. Pilipinas 2010 first runner-up Dianne Necio finished in the Top 15 at Miss International 2011 while Bb. Pilipinas 2011 first runner-up Janine Tugonon became Miss Universe 2012 first runner-up.

Bb. Pilipinas 2012 first runner-up Elaine Kay Moll became Miss Suprnational 2012 third runner-up and Bb. Pilipinas 2013 first runner-up Pia Wurtzbach became Miss Universe 2015. Bb. Pilipinas 2014 first runner-up Laura Lehmann finished in the Top 40 at Miss World 2017.
