Kazakhstan vs South Korea: Kairat Akhmetov, Dae Hwan Kim fight at ‘ONE: Collision Course 2’ in Singapore

Kairat “The Kazakh” Akhmetov (Кайрат Ахметов), 33, of Kazakhstan was one of the winners at “ONE: Collision Course 2,” the last ONE Championship event in 2020. It was the Kazakh mixed martial artist’s fifth victory in the Singapore-based martial arts promotion.

Akhmetov trains at Alarn MMA Pro Team and Tiger Muay Thai. He is a former ONE Flyweight World Champion.

Featuring four MMA fights and two Muay Thai contests, “ONE: Collision Course 2” took place place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore and broadcast in the evening of December 25, 2020. It was pre-recorded with a limited audience in attendance due to the new coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

In the fifth bout of the evening, Akhmetov fought “Ottogi” Dae Hwan Kim (김대환), 33, of South Korea in an MMA match at a catch weight of 62.2 kg. Mohamad Sulaiman served as the referee.

After three five-minute rounds, the catchweight contest was left in the hands of the judges. In the end, Sulaiman raised the hand of Akhmetov, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision.

 

Winning at “ONE: Collision Course 2” improved the professional MMA record of Akhmetov to 27 wins and 2 losses. The Kazakh MMA fighter is now riding a three-bout winning streak.

On the other hand, Kim now has 15 wins, 6 losses and 1 draw. He is now riding a three-bout losing streak.

Both Kim and Akhmetov are 165 cm tall. The Korean MMA fighter trains at Ryeong Promotion and Kukje Gym.

Nine countries were represented at “ONE: Collision Course 2” namely Algeria, Brazil, China, France, Japan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Singapore and South Korea. Akhmetov solely represented Kazakhstan while Kim was one of the two fighters who represented South Korea.
