Maria Ysabella Roxas Ysmael, 24, of Parañaque City, Metro Manila, Philippines walks and talks with elegance, poise and tranquility. She is currently competing for the Miss Universe Philippines 2020 crown against 45 other beautiful Filipino women from various provinces and cities in the Philippines.

Ysmael and her fellow candidates are now in Baguio City, Philippines where the inaugural Miss Universe Philippines will be crowned. Hosted by Benjamin Alves, the preliminary round took place at the Cordillera Convention Hall of Baguio Country Club on October 23, 2020.

The candidates showcased their intricately designed national costumes, their fit and fabulous bodies while wearing swimsuit and their evening gowns that are as awe-inspiring as their grace, confidence and beauty. They were judged by Miss Universe 2010 fourth runner-up Maria Venus Raj, Miss Universe 2013 third runner-up Ariella Arida, Miss Universe Philippines 2014 Mary Jean Lastimosa, Mister International 2014 Neil Perez, Verzosa Aesthetic Clinic founder Dr. Katrina Salonga Verzosa, Frontrow co-founder and CEO Samuel Salonga Verzosa Jr. and Philippine Fashion Coalition president Jackie C. Aquino.

At the end of the event, Alves announced the winners of the special awards, some of which were presented by sponsors. Presented by Verzosa Aesthetic Clinic, Ysmael was the Best in Evening Gown.

Tracy Maureen Perez, 27, of Cebu City, Philippines was Miss Photogenic, Michele Gumabao, 27, of Quezon City, Metro Manila was Miss MG Philippines and Lou Dominique Piczon, 24, Mandaue, Philippines was Best in National Costume. Pauline Cucharo Amelinckx, 24, of Bohol, Philippines was Miss Creamsilk, Miss Downy Sweetheart, Miss Cetaphil Sun and the Face of the Universe.

Before Miss Universe Philippines 2020, Ysmael was Binibining Parañaque 2014 and Century Tuna Superbods Ageless 2018 first runner-up in the female category. She stands 5’7″.

Ysmael is of Lebanese and Spanish descent. She is the niece of Miss Universe 1973 Margarita Moran.
