Jayson “The Blur” Castro, 33, of the Philippine Basketball Association team TNT KaTropa is one of the Filipino basketball players competing in “The Terrific 12.” Known for his speed, he plans to exhibit his claim to fame in the upcoming international basketball tournament of the East Asia Super League.
The EASL will hold “The Terrific 12” from September 17-22, 2019 at the Tap Seac Multi-Sport Pavilion in Macao, China. The best clubs and players from China, Japan, South Korea and the Philippines will go up against their international champion counterparts in the international basketball tournament that is recognized by the Fédération Internationale de Basketball (FIBA).
“I’m going to show them what speed really looks like,” Castro declared. “They’ll never see me coming. We’re going to show these other teams how the PBA does things.”
Born on June 30, 1986 in Bacolor, Pampanga, Philippines, Castro went to Don Honorio Ventura Technological State University in Pampanga, Philippines and the Philippine Christian University in Metro Manila, Philippines. He has been playing for TNT KaTropa since 2008.
While in college, Castro played for the Philippine Christian University Dolphins in the National Collegiate Athletic Association. He also competed in the Philippine Basketball League as a member of the teams Hapee-PCU Teeth Protectors and Harbour Centre Batang Pier.
Prior to “The Terrific 12,” Castro has represented the Philippines in international tournaments several times. He participated in the Southeast Asian Games in 2007 and the FIBA Asia Championship in 2013 and 2015.
“The Terrific 12” is filled to the brim with All-Star and national team talent from the best teams across East Asia. The teams are championship contenders in their respective leagues.
