Nguyen Thanh Tung was one of the Vietnamese martial artists featured in the open workout held by ONE Championship as a preliminary activity for “ONE: Immortal Triumph” at the Hotel Nikko Saigon in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on September 3, 2019. He is set to make his debut in the Singapore-based organization’s striking-only league ONE Super Series.
“ONE Championship is an incredible organization,” Nguyen stated. “The work they have done to bring martial arts to the mainstream and elevate the entire local and international industry, it’s nothing short of awe-inspiring. Because of ONE, athletes like myself are given the chance to shine on the global stage.”
Featuring kickboxing and Muay Thai bouts only, “ONE: Immortal Triumph” is the first ever ONE Championship event that does not have any mixed martial arts match on the card. In the second bout of the evening, Nguyen will face fellow ONE Super Series debutante Shahzaib Rindh of Pakistan in a kickboxing bout in the featherweight division.
“I plan on making the best of my chance to prove to the world that Vietnamese martial artists are a cut above the rest,” Nguyen said. “I am coming into this organization in the best shape of my career and I can’t wait to come out this Friday night and put on a show.”
Taking place at the Phu Tho Indoor Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City on September 6, 2019, “ONE: Immortal Triumph” is the first ever ONE Championship event to take place in Vietnam. Aside from Vietnam, 14 other countries will be represented namely Australia, Brazil, France, India, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Pakistan, Russia, Slovakia, Thailand, the United Kingdom and the United States.
