Chris Nguyen was one of the Vietnamese martial artists featured in the open workout held by ONE Championship as a preliminary activity for “ONE: Immortal Triumph” at the Hotel Nikko Saigon in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on September 3, 2019. The Vietnamese-Australian fighter is set to make his debut in the Singapore-based organization’s striking-only league ONE Super Series.
“I’ve trained long and hard for this moment,” Nguyen stated. “Getting this opportunity to compete with the world’s best striking talents in ONE Super Series, it’s going to be amazing for my career moving forward.”
Featuring kickboxing and Muay Thai bouts only, “ONE: Immortal Triumph” is the first ever ONE Championship event that does not have any mixed martial arts match on the card. In the ninth bout of the evening, Nguyen will face Yukinori Ogasawara of Japan in a Muay Thai bout in the atomweight division.”
“This is the world’s top proving ground for martial arts and the competition is definitely fierce,” the Vietnamese-Australian fighter said. “But I believe it’s my time to shine and I’m surely aiming for the ONE world title. Right now, however, I’m focused on one thing only and that’s beating Yukinori Ogasawara decisively.”
Taking place at the Phu Tho Indoor Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City on September 6, 2019, “ONE: Immortal Triumph” is the first ever ONE Championship event to take place in Vietnam. Aside from Vietnam and Australia, 13 other countries will be represented namely Brazil, France, India, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Pakistan, Russia, Slovakia, Thailand, the United Kingdom and the United States.
