Philippines’ Dave Bangguigui earns 2nd ONE Super Series win in Singapore

Fighting out of the Philippines, Dave “Kintas” Bangguigui, 23, was one of the winners at “Rich Franklin’s ONE Warriors Series” Season 7. It was his second bout in the ONE Championship subsidiary headed by mixed martial arts veteran Rich “Ace” Franklin, 44, of the United States.

ONE Championship held “ONE Warrior Series 7” in Singapore on August 6, 2019 featuring one Muay Thai contest and 14 professional MMA matches. In the seventh bout of the evening, Bangguigui competed in an MMA match in the strawweight division against Alber “Magayver” Correia da Silva, 22, of Brazil with Olivier Coste as the referee.

Coste put a stop to the strawweight contest after 4 minutes and 43 seconds in the second round. Bangguigui submitted da Silva via rear-naked choke.

Winning at “ONE Warrior Series 7” improved the professional MMA record of Bangguigui to 8 wins and 1 loss. He is training out of Fight Corps MMA in Baguio City, Philippines.

On the other hand, da Silva now has 3 wins and 3 losses. He is training out of Impakt MMA in Hong Kong.

“ONE Warrior Series 7” marked Bangguigui’s second consecutive ONE Warrior Series win. When he made his debut at “ONE Warrior Series 6” on June 20, 2019, he knocked out Susovan “Lil Tiger” Ghosh, 36, of India via punch in the second round.

Including Brazil and the Philippines, 16 countries were represented at “ONE Warrior Series 7.” The others were Australia, Brunei Darussalam, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Malaysia, Myanmar, Northern Ireland, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, the U.S. and Vietnam.

Da Silva solely represented Brazil. The Philippines had five representatives namely Bangguigui, Allan Albindo, 22, Ismael Bandiwan, 23, Lito Adiwang, 26, and Jenelyn Olsim, 22.

Bangguigui was born on October 28, 1996 in Bauko, Mountain Province, Philippines. He studied at the University of the Cordilleras in Baguio City.
