Brazil and Japan were represented at “ONE: Dawn of Heroes” on August 2, 2019. It was the third ONE Championship event in 2019 that took place in the Philippines.
Featuring 12 mixed martial arts matches and two Muay Thai matches, “ONE: Dawn of Heroes” took place at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines. In the sixth bout of the evening, Leandro “Brodinho” Issa, 35, of Brazil faced Daichi Takenaka, 29, of Japan.
Including the Brazil and Japan, 12 countries were represented at “ONE: Dawn of Heroes.” The other countries were Australia, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, South Korea, Thailand, the United Kingdom, the United States and Vietnam.
Issa was one of the two fighters who represented Brazil. Takenaka was one of the six representatives of Japan.
Blue Corner
Takenaka is training out of Paraestra Izumi in Izumi, Osaka, Japan and HybridFighter in Tokyo, Japan. He has been competing professionally since 2012.
“ONE: Dawn of Heroes” marked Takenaka’s third ONE Championship outing. He was coming out of a doctor stoppage loss to Mark “Tyson” Abelardo, 27, of New Zealand.
Red Corner
Issa is training out of Evolve MMA in Singapore. Born in Ubatuba, Sao Paulo, Brazil on September 19, 1983, he has been competing professionally since 2006.
“ONE: Dawn of Heroes” marked Issa’s 10th ONE Championship outing. He was coming out of an armbar submission victory against Fu Chang Xin, 26, of China.
Results
Issa and Takenaka competed in an MMA match in the bantamweight division. Kemp Cheng served as the referee.
Cheng put a stop to the bantamweight contest after 1 minute and 39 seconds in the third round. Takenaka knocked out Issa.
Winning at “ONE Dawn of Heroes” improved the professionally MMA record of Takenaka to 12 wins, 1 loss and 1 draw. On the other hand, Issa now has 17 wins and 8 losses.
