Brazil and Japan were represented at “ONE: Dawn of Heroes” on August 2, 2019. It was the third ONE Championship event in 2019 that took place in the Philippines.
Featuring 12 mixed martial arts matches and two Muay Thai matches, “ONE: Dawn of Heroes” took place at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines. In the second bout of the evening, Samara “Marituba” Santos, 26, of Brazil faced Ayaka Miura, 28, of Japan.
Including Brazil and Japan, 12 countries were represented at “ONE: Dawn of Heroes.” The other countries were Australia, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, South Korea, Thailand, the United Kingdom, the United States and Vietnam.
Santos was one of the two fighters who represented Brazil. Miura was one of the five representatives of Japan.
Miura is training out of Tribe Tokyo MMA in Tokyo, Japan. Born in Saitama, Japan on September 17,1900, she made her professional MMA debut in 2014.
“ONE: Dawn of Heroes” marked Miura’s second ONE Championship outing. She was coming out of an Americana submission over Laura “La Gladiadora” Balin, 39, of Argentina.
Santos is training out of Team Lions Pit. Training in Muay Thai since 2013, she made her professional MMA debut in 2015.
“ONE: Dawn of Heroes” marked Santos’s second ONE Championship outing. In her promotional debut, she lost to “The Panda” Xiong Jing Nan, 31, of China, who is now the reigning ONE Women’s Strawweight World Champion.
Santos and Miura competed in an MMA match in the women’s strawweight division. Kemp Cheng served as the referee.
Cheng put a stop to the strawweight contest after 39 seconds in the second round. Miura submitted Santos via Americana.
Winning at “ONE: Dawn of Heroes” improved the professional MMA record of Miura to 9 wins, 2 losses, 0 draw and 1 No Contest. Santos now has 11 wins, 7 losses and 1 draw.
