Age difference is not the only thing boxing fans talk about in relation to the upcoming bout between Manny “Pac-Man” Pacquiao, 40, of the Philippines and Keith “One Time” Thurman, 30, of the United States at “Welterweight Supremacy.” There are also debates about the two boxers’ sizes.
Both Pacquiao and Thurman weighed in at 146.5 lbs during the official “Welterweight Supremacy” weigh-ins at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA on July 19, 2019. During the event, the Filipino boxer told Yahoo! Sports that he and his American opponent are “both excited for tomorrow.”
“I’m not worried about the size,” Pacquiao told the publication. “This is about how you move, your speed and the punches.”
Pacquiao stands 5′5½″ and has a 170 cm reach while Thurman stands 5′ 7½″ and has a 175 cm reach. The Filipino fighter said he would beat his American opponent at “Welterweight Supremacy” at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino on July 20, 2019 by using his “speed and power, side by side, moving around.”
Born in Kibawe, Bukidnon, Philippines on December 17, 1978, Pacquiao made his professional boxing debut in 1995. Having won 12 major world titles, he is the only eight-division world champion in the history of boxing.
Moreover, Pacquiao is the first boxer to win the lineal championship in five different weight divisions and is the first one to win major world titles in four of the original eight weight divisions of boxing namely flyweight, featherweight, lightweight, and welterweight.He has been reigning as the World Boxing Association Regular Welterweight Champion since 2018.
“Welterweight Supremacy” marks Pacquiao’s 71st professional boxing bout. He owns a record of 61 wins, 7 losses and 2 draws.
On the other hand, Thurman holds a professional boxing record of 29 wins, 0 loss and 1 No Contest. He has been competing professionally since 2007.
Thurman was born in Clearwater, Florida, USA on November 23, 1988. He has been holding the WBA Super World Welterweight Championship title since 2017.
