[PHOTOS] USA vs China: Troy Worthen, Chen Rui fight at ‘ONE: Masters of Destiny’ in Malaysia

The United States and China were among the countries represented at the ONE Championship event titled “ONE: Masters of Destiny” on July 12, 2019. The fight card featured mixed martial arts matches as well as ONE Super Series contests including Muay Thai and kickboxing bouts.

ONE Championship held “ONE: Masters of Destiny” at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In the 10th bout of the evening, Troy Worthen, 26, of the U.S. faced “The Ghost” Chen Rui, 22, of China.

Blue Corner

Chen is training out of Chengdu Ashura Fight Club in Chengdu, Sichuan, China. “ONE: Masters of Destiny” marked his second ONE Championship bout.

Red Corner

Worthen is training out of Evolve MMA in Singapore. He made his ONE Championship debut at “ONE: Masters of Destiny.”

Results

Olivier Coste was the referee of the bout between Worthen and Chen, who competed in an MMA match in the bantamweight division. It was the fifth MMA bout of the evening.

Coste put a stop to the bantamweight contest after 3 minutes and 29 seconds in the second round. Worthen knocked out Chen, marking the first professional MMA loss of the Chinese contender.

Winning at “ONE: Masters of Destiny” improved the professional MMA record of Worthen 5 wins and 0 loss. On the other hand, Chen now has 7 wins and 1 loss.

Countries

Including the U.S. and China, 20 countries were represented at “ONE: Masters of Destiny.” The others were Australia, Brazil, Finland, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, the Philippines, Scotland, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Timor Leste and Vietnam.

Worthen was one of the three representatives of the U.S. Chen was one of the two athletes who represented China.
