ONE Championship held the “ONE: Masters of Destiny” media night at the UPPERCASE at APW Bangsar in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on June 24, 2019. Retired ONE Championship athlete Ann “Athena” Osman and special guest Peter Davis were present during the event.
Osman and Davis were joined by Malaysian ONE Championship athletes Ev “E.T.” Ting, Agilan “Alligator” Thani, Saiful “The Vampire” Merican, Gianni Subba, Keanu Subba, Muhammad “Jungle Cat” Aiman, Mohammed “Jordan Boy” bin Mahmoud, Jihin “Shadow Cat” Radzuan. Ting, Merican, bin Mahmoud and Radzuan are on the card of “ONE: Masters of Destiny,” which will take place at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur on July 12, 2019.
Merican and bin Mahmoud will compete in a Muay Thai match in the bantamweight division under ONE Super Series. Radzuan will face Jomary “The Zamboanginian Fighter” Torres of the Philippines in an MMA match in the women’s atomweight division while Ting is set to fight Daichi Abe of Japan in an MMA bout in the lightweight division.
On the other hand, Thani is fresh from his victory against Yoshihiro Akiyama of South Korea and Japan. The Korean-Japanese MMA veteran made his ONE Championship debut at “ONE: Legendary Quest” on June 15, 2018 in Shanghai, China and lost to his Malaysian opponent via unanimous decision.
“It was a great experience competing in China and against such a legendary martial artist such as Akiyama,” Thani shared. “Now, I have to keep my head down and work even harder for my upcoming contests in ONE Championship. I hope to slowly make my way back up the charts and hopefully contend for the ONE World Title again soon.”
“I know I have a long road ahead of me,” Thani continued. “But I’m confident I’ve developed my skills and gained the experience necessary to make another run at the championship.”
