[PHOTOS] Morocco vs Brazil: Tarik Khbabez, Anderson Silva fight at ‘ONE: Legendary Quest’ in Shanghai, China

Morocco and Brazil were among the 15 countries represented at “ONE: Legendary Quest.” On the card were both mixed martial arts matches and ONE Super Series contests, featuring both kickboxing and Muay Thai.

ONE Championship held “ONE: Legendary Quest” at the Baoshan Arena in Shanghai, China on June 15, 2019. The ninth bout of the evening was between Tarik Khbabez, 27, of Morocco and Anderson “Braddock” Silva, 32, of Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Khbabez solely represented Morocco at “ONE: Legendary Quest” while Silva was one of the representatives of Brazil. Australia, China, Egypt, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Scotland, South Korea, Thailand and the United Kingdom were also represented.

On June 12, 2019, Khbabez and Silva had their official face-off during the press conference at Yunspace in Shanghai. The event was graced by ONE Championship Greater China chairman Hua Fung Teh and reigning ONE Women’s Strawweight World Champion “The Panda” Xiong Jing Nan, 31, of China.

Blue Corner

Born in São Paulo on August 29, 1986, Silva was 14 years old when he started kickboxing. Martial arts brought him to the Netherlands but he eventually moved back to Brazil.

Representing New Level Academy and TFT, Silva made his ONE Super Series debut on April 12, 2019 and beat Andre “The Giant” Meunier, 43, of New South Wales, Australia. “ONE: Legendary Quest” marked the Brazilian kickboxer’s second bout in the league.

Red Corner

Born in Rabat, Morocco on April 20, 1992, Khbabez started his karate training when he was 4 years old. At 16, he dropped out of school and dedicated himself to kickboxing.

“ONE: Legendary Quest” marked Khbabez’s fourth ONE Super Series bout. He is training out of Arj Trainingen in the Hague, Netherlands under the tutelage of Maikel Polanen.

Fight Results

Khbabez and Silva competed in a kickboxing contest in the featherweight division. Atsushi Onari served as the referee.

After three three-minute rounds, the featherweight kickboxing contest was left in the hands of the judges. In the end, Onari raised the hand of Khbabez, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision.

Winning at “ONE: Legendary Quest” improved the professional kickboxing record of Khbabez to 46 wins, 5 losses and 1 draw. On the other hand, Silva now has 51 wins, 18 losses and 1 draw.

“ONE: Legendary Quest” Main Events

Agilan “Alligator” Thani, 23, of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia faced ONE Championship debutante Yoshihiro “Sexyama” Akiyama, 43, of Osaka, Japan in an MMA match in the welterweight division. The Malaysian contender won via unanimous decision.

ONE Super Series debutante Alma Juniku, 18, of Australia challenged reigning ONE Atomweight Muay Thai World Champion Stamp Fairtex, 27, of Thailand in the main event. The Thai defending champion won via unanimous decision.
