Thailand and the Republic of Moldova were among the 19 countries represented at “ONE: Enter the Dragon” on May 17, 2019. ONE Championship held the combat sports event at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore.
Featuring 10 mixed martial arts matches and six ONE Super Series contests, which were six kickboxing bouts, “ONE: Enter the Dragon” was the Singapore-based martial arts organization’s second event in 2019 that took place in Singapore. The third bout was between Shannon “OneShin” Wiratchai, 30, of Thailand and Iuri Lapicus, 23, of Moldova.
Wiratchai was one of the five representatives of Thailand at “ONE: Enter the Dragon” while Lapicus solely represented Moldova. Australia, Argentina, Brazil, China, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Turkey, Ukraine and the United States were also represented.
Born in Moldova on November 22, 1995, Lapicus was 15 years old when he moved to Italy. He represents Team Petrosyan in Milan, Italy.
Lapicus made his ONE Championship debut at “ONE: Enter the Dragon.” He entered the cage as an undefeated fighter.
Born in Thailand on November 14, 1988, Wiratchai is training out of Bangkok Fight Lab and Tiger Muay Thai. His martial arts background includes judo and kung fu.
“ONE: Enter the Dragon” marked Wiratchai’s 13th ONE Championship bout. He is a Naksu Champion and is the creator of the OneShin Striking System.
Wiratchai and Lapicus competed in an MMA bout in the lightweight division. Tomohiro Tsuruwa served as the referee.
Tsuruwa put a stop to the lightweight contest after 3 minutes and 10 seconds in the third round. Lapicus submitted Wiratchai via rear-naked choke.
Winning at “ONE: Enter the Dragon” improved the professional MMA record of Lapicus to 13 wins and 0 loss. On the other hand, Wiratchai now has 9 wins, 5 losses, 0 draw and 1 No Contest.
“ONE: Enter the Dragon” Main Events
Both fighting out of the Netherlands, Nieky “The Natural” Holzken, 34, and Regian “The Immortal” Eersel, 25, competed for the inaugural ONE Lightweight Kickboxing World Championship in the co-main event. The latter won the title via unanimous decision.
Christian “The Warrior” Lee, 20, of Singapore challenged reigning ONE Lightweight World Championship: Shinya “Tobikan Judan” Aoki, 35, of Japan in the main event. The Singaporean challenger dethroned the Japanese defending champion via technical knockout.
