[PHOTOS] Netherlands’ Nieky Holzken vs Regian Eersel at ‘ONE: Enter the Dragon’ in Singapore

The Netherlands among the 19 countries represented at “ONE: Enter the Dragon” on May 17, 2019. ONE Championship held the combat sports event at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore.

Featuring 10 mixed martial arts matches and six ONE Super Series contests, which were six kickboxing bouts, “ONE: Enter the Dragon” was the Singapore-based martial arts organization’s second event in 2019 that took place in Singapore. Both fighting out of the Netherlands, Nieky “The Natural” Holzken, 34, and Regian “The Immortal” Eersel, 25, faced each other in the co-main event of the evening.

Holzken and Eersel were two of the three representatives of the Netherlands at “ONE: Enter the Dragon.” Argentina, Australia, Brazil, China, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, the Republic of Moldova, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine and the United States were also represented.

Eersel is training out of Sityodtong Amsterdam. Originally from Suriname, he was 8 years old when he started his training in taekwondo.

“ONE: Enter the Dragon” marked Eersel’s third ONE Super Series bout. He defeated his first two opponents in the league namely Brad “Quake” Riddell, 26, of New Zealand and Anthony “The Assassin” Njokuani, 38, of Nigeria.

Red Corner

Holzken represents Team Holzken Helmon. He started his boxing training when he was 10 years old and he eventually trained in kickboxing and Muay Thai, as well.

“ONE: Enter the Dragon” marked Holzken’s third ONE Super Series bout. He defeated his first two opponents in the league namely Cosmo “Good Boy” Alexandre, 36, of Brazil and Mustapha “Dynamite” Haida, 20, of Italy.

Fight Result

Holzken and Eersel competed for the inaugural ONE Lightweight Kickboxing World Championship. Elias Dolaptsis served as the referee.

After five three-minute rounds, the title bout was left in the hands of the judges. In the end, Dolaptsis raised the hand of Eersel, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision.

Winning at “ONE: Enter the Dragon” improved the professional kickboxing record of Eersel to 54 wins and 4 losses. On the other hand, Holzken now has 92 wins, 15 losses and 1 No Contest.

“ONE: Enter the Dragon” Main Event

Christian “The Warrior” Lee, 20, of Singapore challenged reigning ONE Lightweight World Championship: Shinya “Tobikan Judan” Aoki, 35, of Japan in the main event. The Singaporean challenger dethroned the Japanese defending champion via technical knockout.
