The United States and Japan were among the 19 countries represented at “ONE: Enter the Dragon” on May 17, 2019. ONE Championship held the combat sports event at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore.
Featuring 10 mixed martial arts matches and six ONE Super Series contests, which were six kickboxing bouts, “ONE: Enter the Dragon” was the Singapore-based martial arts organization’s second event in 2019 that took place in Singapore. The main event of the evening was between Shinya “Tobikan Judan” Aoki, 35, of Japan and Christian “The Warrior” Lee, 20, of Singapore.
Lee was one of the two hometown fighters at “ONE: Enter the Dragon” while Aoki was one of the four representatives of Japan. Argentina, Australia, Brazil, China, France, Germany, India, Italy, the Republic of Moldova, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Russia, South Korea, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine and the United States were also represented.
Blue Corner
Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on June 21, 1998, Lee is a five-time Pankration World Champion. He has been competing professionally since 2015 and “ONE: Enter the Dragon” marked his 15th ONE Championship bout.
Lee is the younger brother of reigning ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion “Unstoppable” Angela Lee, 22. They are both training out of Evolve MMA in Singapore and United MMA in Hawaii, United States.
Red Corner
Born on May 9, 1983 in Shizuoka City, Japan, Aoki graduated from Waseda University in Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan. He has been competing professionally since 2003 and joined ONE Championship in 2012.
Training out of Evolve MMA in Singapore, Aoki became the ONE Lightweight World Champion on April 5, 2013, lost the title on November 11, 2016 and regained it on March 31, 2019. “ONE: Enter the Dragon” marked his 13th ONE Championship bout.
Fight Result
Christian challenge Aoki for the ONE Lightweight World Championship title. Olivier Coste served as the referee.
Coste put a stop to the championship contest after 51 seconds in the second round. Christian knocked out Aoki.
Winning at “ONE: Enter the Dragon” improved the professional MMA record of Christian to 12 wins and 3 losses. On the other hand, Aoki now has 43 wins and 9 losses.
“ONE: Enter the Dragon” Co-Main Event
Both fighting out of the Netherlands, Nieky “The Natural” Holzken, 34, and Regian “The Immortal” Eersel, 25, competed for the inaugural ONE Lightweight Kickboxing World Championship in the co-main event. The latter won the belt via unanimous decision.
