Brave Combat Federation’s new Super Lightweight champion Eldar “Khan” Eldarov, 27, flew the flag of Bahrain to the highest place on April 19, 2019. Fighting out of KHK MMA in Manama, Bahrain, he took a unanimous decision victory over Mounir “The Sniper” Lazzez, 31, of Tunisia in the co-main event of “Brave 23: Pride and Honor” at the Martyr Rashid Al-Ziyoud Hall Boxing Arena in Amman, Jordan.
Eldarov made history for Bahrain by becoming the first-ever world champion from the Kingdom as he wrote his name in one of mixed martial arts’ most iconic moments. As he had the belt wrapped around his waist by Brave CF president Mohammed Shahid, the Bahrain-based Russian MMA fighter became the first-ever world champion at the newly formed division.
The new weight class was approved by several commissions around the world. However, Brave CF has been the only truly global promotion to install the weight class, providing fighters with more options to fight at their optimal body weight.
For Eldarov, the victory and the world title were also the culmination of a life-long ambition of holding a martial arts world title. He was silver medalist in the Combat Sambo World Championships but now has mixed martial arts gold wrapped around his waist.
“We made history together,” Eldarov stated after his fight against Lazzez at “Brave 23: Pride and Honor.” “Since I was a little kid, training, and grinding away, I’ve envisioned this moment. I’ve always wanted to be a martial arts world champion.”
“I was very close to achieving that in combat sambo but I lost in the finals,” the KHK MMA athlete continued. “Now, I fulfill that vision. Thank you to His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa for this honor.”
Aside from representing Bahrain inside the Brave CF arena, Eldarov also coaches the KHK MMA professional team as well as Bahrain’s national amateur MMA team. Here is a clip featuring the newly crowned Brave CF Super Lightweight World Champion:
