Bahrain and Tunisia were among the 16 countries represented at “Brave 23: Pride and Honor” on April 19, 2019. It was the second Brave Combat Federation event to take place in the country.
Featuring 12 mixed martial arts matches, which included three title bouts, “Brave 23: Pride and Honor” took place at the Martyr Rashid Al-Ziyoud Hall Boxing Arena in Amman, Jordan. In the second co-main event, Mounir “The Sniper” Lazzez, 31, of Tunisia and Eldar “Khan” Eldarov, 27, of Bahrain competed for the inaugural Brave CF Super Lightweight Championship title.
Lazzez was the only fighter who represented Tunisia at “Brave 23: Pride and Honor” while Eldarov solely represented Bahrain. Brazil, Canada, Egypt, England, France, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Russia, South Africa, Sweden, the United States and Wales were also represented.
Blue Corner
Lazzez made his successful professional MMA debut in 2012. He joined Brave CF in 2018.
“Brave 23: Pride and Honor” marked Lazzez’s second Brave CF bout. He previously competed in Dubai Fight Championship, Desert Force MMA and Phoenix Fighting Championship.
Red Corner
Eldarov made his successful professional MMA debut in 2009 and in the same year, he suffered his first and only loss in the hands of his childhood friend, now reigning UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib “The Eagle” Nurmagomedov, 30, of Dagestan, Russia.
Originally from Dagestan, Eldarov is training out of KHK MMA in Bahrain. “Brave 23: Pride and Honor” marked his fourth Brave CF bout.
Fight Result
The championship bout between Eldarov and Lazzez was the 11th bout of the evening.
After five five-minute rounds, the championship bout was left in the hands of the judges. In the end, the referee raised the hand of Eldarov, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision.
The first and second judges scored the bout 50-45. The third judge scored it 49-46.
Winning at “Brave 23: Pride and Honor” improved Eldarov’s professional MMA record to 11 wins and 1 loss. On the other hand, Lazzez now has 7 wins and 1 loss.
