[PHOTOS] Japan vs Russia: Mei Yamaguchi, Kseniya Lachkova fight at ‘ONE: A New Era’ in Tokyo

Japan and Russia were among the 19 countries represented at “ONE: A New Era” at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan on March 31, 2019. It was the first ever ONE Championship event to take place in the country.

“ONE: A New Era” featured 11 mixed martial arts bouts and four ONE Super Series matches, which include two kickboxing contests and two Muay Thai contests. In the fourth bout of the evening, Mei “V.V” Yamaguchi, 36, of Japan faced Kseniya “The Tigress” Lachkova, 23, of Russia.

Yamaguchi was one of the six fighters who represented Japan at “ONE: A New Era.” Lachkova solely represented Russia.

Blue Corner

Lachkova grew up in Sharanga, Sharangsky District, Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, Russia. She is training out of Fight Spirit.

“ONE: A New Era” marked Lachkova’s ONE Championship debut. She was riding a five-bout winning streak.

Red Corner

Born in Tokyo, Yamaguchi is a former Valkyrie Featherweight Champion and a former DEEP Jewels Featherweight Grand Prix Champion. She is currently training out of Riki Gym, Gods and HybridFighter.

“ONE: A New Era” marked Yamaguchi’s seventh ONE Championship bout. She was riding a two-bout winning streak.

Fight Result

Yamaguchi and Lachkova competed in an MMA match in the women’s atomweight division. Kemp Cheng served as the referee.

Cheng put a stop to the atomweight contest after 3 minutes and 18 seconds in the third round. Yamaguchi submitted Lachkova via armbar.

Winning at “ONE: A New Era” improved Yamaguchi’s professional MMA record to 19 wins, 11 losses and 1 draw. On the other hand, Lachkova now has 10 wins and 3 losses.

“ONE: A New Era” Main Event 

In the main event, Shinya “Tobikan Judan” Aoki, 35, of Japan challenged reigning ONE Lightweight World Champion Eduard “Landslide” Folayang, 35, of the Philippines in a rematch.


Australia, Brazil, China, Cyprus, France, India, Indonesia, Italy, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand and the United States were also represented at “ONE: A New Era.” Check all the official results on Conan Daily.
