[PHOTOS] Japan vs Thailand: Kenta Yamada, Petchmorrakot Petchyindee Academy fight at ‘ONE: Reign of Valor’ in Yangon, Myanmar

Japan and Thailand were two of the 21 countries represented at “ONE: Reign of Valor,” the first ONE Championship event in 2019 held in Myanmar. The Singapore-based mixed martial arts promotion held it at the Thuwunna Indoor Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar on March 8, 2019.

“ONE: Reign of Valor” featured nine MMA matches and five ONE Super Series contests, which are kickboxing bouts. In the ninth bout of the evening, Kenta Yamada, 31, of Japan faced Petchmorrakot Petchyindee Academy, 25, of Thailand.

Yamada was one of the four fighters who represented Japan at “ONE: Reign of Valor.” Petchmorrakot was the sole representative of Japan.

Petchmorakot  was 9 years old when he started his training in Muay Thai. Hailing from Ubon Ratchathan, Thailand, he moved to the country’s capital Bangkok in 2012 to continue his training.

“ONE: Reign of Valor” marked Petchmorrakot’s fourth bout in ONE Super Series. He won two of this first three bouts in the ONE Championship striking-only league.

Yamada was 16 years old when he started his training in boxing. He went on to win several titles including the WBC Muay Thai Japan Title, the Krush Kickboxing 70kg Championship and the New Japan Kickboxing Federation.

The Japanese fighter is training out of E.S.G. “ONE: Reign of Valor” marked his ONE Super Series debut.

Fight Result

Yamada and Petchmorrakot competed in a kickboxing contest in the featherweight division. Elias Dolaptsis served as the referee.

After three three-minute rounds, the bout was left in the hands of the judges. In the end, Dolaptsis raised the hand of Petchmorrakot, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision.

Winning at “ONE: Reign of Valor” improved Petchmorrakot’s professional Muay Thai and kickboxing record to 158 wins, 34 losses and 2 draws. On the other hand, Yamada now has 57 wins, 24 losses and 6 draws.

“ONE: Reign of Valor” Main Events

Phoe “Bushido” Thaw, 34, of Myanmar faced “The Iceman” Yohan Mulia Legowo, 38, of Indonesia in the co-main event. The Burmese contender knocked out his Indonesian opponent in the second round.

Georgiy “Knight” Kichigin, 28, of Kazakhstan challenged reigning ONE Welterweight World Champion Zebaztian “The Bandit” Kadestam, 28, of Sweden in the main event. After two five-minute rounds, the Swedish defending champion won via technical knockout via retirement.

Australia, Cambodia, China, Finland, Germany, Guam, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Italy, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Morocco, Myanmar, the Philippines, Portugal, Romania, Sweden and the United Kingdom were also represented at “ONE: Reign of Valor.” Check the complete results on Conan Daily.
