Undefeated mixed martial artist Amir “The Prince” Albazi, 25, of Sweden will be making his Brave Combat Federation debut against Jose “Shorty” Torres, 26, of the United States on March 15, 2019. They will compete in the flyweight division in the co-main event of “Brave 22: Storm of Warriors,” which will take place at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines.
Born in Baghdad, Iraq to a Kurdish family, Albazi and his family fled to Kurdistan and Syria before settling in Sweden. He competed in Bellator MMA before joining Brave CF.
Albazi feels at ease waiting for “Brave 22: Storm of Warriors” while Torres gets all the attention. The Iraqi-Swedish MMA fighter is appreciative of his American opponent’s skills but the former does not feel threatened in any aspect of the game by the latter.
Training out of London Shootfighters in London, England, Albazi is predicting a second-round finish against Torres at “Brave 22: Storm of Warriors.” The Iraqi-Swedish contender recognizes the fact that his American opponent is a very experienced fighter.
“I’m looking forward to showcasing my skills against him,” Albazi stated. “I don’t think Jose can threaten me anywhere to be honest. I am confident in my abilities and I think I can get either a TKO or a submission against him in the second round.”
“I do hope he’s training hard for this because I’m bringing everything I’ve got into the cage,” Albazi added. “No excuses.”
While Amir has more professional fights under his belt, Torres gets the nod in experience through his amateur work. For Albazi, a chance against one of the best Flyweights in the world is just what he needs at this stage in his career.
“I take pride in the work that I do,” Albazi stated. “I’m always the first person in the gym and the last one to come out. I want to be recognized as the best Flyweight ever so to fight a guy like Torres now is just what I need.”
“Brave 22: Storm of Warriors” marks the first time the biggest promotion in the Middle East hosts an event in the Philippines. Reigning Brave CF Bantamweight champion Stephen “The Sniper” Loman, 23, of the Philippines will defend his belt for the third time against former Brave CF Featherweight Champion Elias “Smile” Boudegzdame, 25, of France in the main event.
Cian “The Warrior” Cowley, 25, of Ireland returns to take on John Brewin, 24, of New Zealand in the lightweight division and other nine Filipino heroes fight for their honor inside the Brave CF cage. Meanwhile, get to know a little bit more about Albazi here:
