After two bouts in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Jose “Shorty” Torres, 26, of the United States is now signed with Brave Combat Federation. Recently, he expressed his interest in the main event of “Brave 22: Storm of Warriors,” which will take place at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines on March 15, 2019.

Reigning Brave CF Bantamweight Champion Stephen “The Sniper” Loman, 27, of the Philippines will defend his title in the main event of “Brave 22: Storm of Warriors.” His challenger will be former Brave CF Featherweight Champion Elias “Smile” Boudegzdame, 25, of France.

Torres was one of the commentators at “Brave 18: Bahrain,” where Loman successfully defended his title from Felipe Efrain, 24, of Brazil. The former UFC fighter said, “I know Elias has a very interesting submission game but he has to beat Loman in the first round, or else I see the champ taking over and winning again.”

Training out of Combat-Do, Torres is willing to fight at both flyweight and bantamweight and he praised Loman, who can be his future opponent in Brave CF. It would take something spectacular from Boudegzdame to dethrone Loman, according to Torres.

“Loman is incredible, he always comes back from adversity,” Torres said. “He’s a slow starter and almost always loses the first round. Even in his last fight, we thought Felipe Efrain would put him away but then he came back stronger each round and was able to stay the champion.”

For Torres, the fact that Loman will fight at home at “Brave 22: Storm of Warriors” puts him as a favorite against Boudegzdame. The American mixed martial artist said, “As Loman will be fighting at home, Elias has to finish him early.”

“Stephen is from the Philippines and you see what they do for the likes of Manny Pacquiao,” Torres said. “They travel the world to see him fight. You can imagine now at home how they’re going to make him feel.”

“The crowd will be relentless,” Torres added. “I was in Bahrain when he fought at ‘Brave 18’ and the Filipinos were louder than anyone else in the arena. It’s going to be fantastic for him.”

“Brave 22: Storm of Warriors” is the first-ever Brave CF event in the Philippines. The country joins a long list of places that the promotion has visited inside the first two years of operation, including Brazil, Mexico, Morocco, South Africa, India, Kazakhstan and the United Arab Emirates.
