[PHOTOS] Tunisia vs Thailand: Fahdi Khaled, Rodtang Jitmuangnon fight at ‘ONE: Hero’s Ascent’ in the Philippines

Tunisia and Thailand were among the 14 countries represented at “ONE: Hero’s Ascent.” It is the second ONE Championship event in 2019.

Featuring one kickboxing contest, four Muay Thai matches and nine mixed martial arts bouts, “ONE: Hero’s Ascent” took place at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines on January 25, 2019. In the eighth bout of the evening, Fahdi “The Gladiator” Khaled, 23, of Tunisia and “The Iron Man” Rodtang Jitmuangnon, 21, of Thailand.

Blue Corner

Rodtang is a two-time Omnoi Stadium Muay Thai World Champion. He made a successful ONE Super Series debut on September 22, 2018 when he overpowered Sergio “Samurai” Wielzen, 30, of Suriname to claim a thrilling unanimous decision.

Red Corner

Khaled trains at Venum Training Camp in Thailand. An accomplished kickboxer, he made his ONE Super Series debut at “ONE: Hero’s Ascent.”

Fight Result

Khaled and Rodtang competed in a Muay Thai bout in the flyweight division. Atsushi Onari served as the referee.

After three rounds, the Muay Thai bout was left in the hands of the judges. In the end, Onari raised the hand of Rodtang, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision.

Winning at “ONE: Hero’s Ascent” improved Rodtang’s professional Muay Thai record to 255 wins, 41 losses and 10 draws. On the other hand, Khaled now has 37 wins and 5 losses in Muay Thai.

“ONE: Hero’s Ascent” Main Events

In the co-main event, Honorio “The Rock” Banario, 29, of Benguet, Philippines and Lowen Tynanes, 28, of Hawaii, United States competed in the first bout of the ONE Lightweight World Grand Prix quarter-finals. The Hawaiian fighter knocked out his Filipino opponent in the first round.

In the main event, Adriano “Mikinho” Moraes, 30, of Brazil challenged reigning ONE Flyweight World Champion Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio, 29, of the Philippines. The challenger dethroned the defending champion via unanimous decision.

Australia, Algeria, Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Netherlands, the Philippines, South Korea and the United States were also represented at “ONE: Hero’s Ascent.” Check the complete results here.
