USA vs Sweden: Sidney Wheeler, Khamzat Chimaev fight at ‘Brave 20: Hyderabad’

The United States and Sweden were among the 11 countries represented at “Brave 20: Hyderabad” at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad, India on December 22, 2018. It was the second event of Bahrain-based mixed martial arts promotion Brave Combat Federation to take place in India.

“Brave 20: Hyderabad” featured 10 MMA matches. In the main event, Khamzat “Borz” Chimaev of Sweden faced Sidney “The All-American Kid” Wheeler, 22, of Dalton, Georgia.

Wheeler was originally set to face Leon Aliu, 29, of Reggio nell’Emilia, Italy in the main event of “Brave 20: Hyderabad.” The Italian was injured prior to the fight night and had to be pulled out of the card and was replaced by Chimaev.

Blue Corner

Chimaev is training out of Allstars Training Center in Stockholm, Sweden. He entered the cage at “Brave 20: Hyderabad” as an undefeated fighter.

“Brave 20: Hyderabad” marked Chimaev’s second Brave CF bout. When he made his promotional debut at “Brave 18: Bahrain” on November 16, 2018, he knocked out Marko Kisič of Vienna, Austria.

Red Corner

Wheeler is training out of Blalock’s International Martial Arts and Boxing Academy MMA in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. He is under the tutelage of Chet Blalock, the first American martial artist in Tennessee to earn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt.

“Brave 20: Hyderabad” marked Wheeler’s third Brave CF bout. After defeating Pawel Kielek, 22, of Olsztyn, Poland at “Brave 10: The Kingdom Rises” on March 2, 2018, Wheeler lost to Abdoul “Sinistro” Abdouraguimov, 23, of Russia and France at “Brave 14: Morocco” on August 18, 2018.

Fight Result

Wheeler and Chimaev competed in the middleweight division at “Brave 20: Hyderabad.” Referee Marc Goddard put a stop to the contest in the first round.

Chimaev was able to maintain his undefeated professional MMA record. He knocked out his American opponent via strikes.

As an amateur fighter, Chimaev had 3 wins and 0 loss. As a professional fighter, the Allstars Training Center athlete now has 4 wins and 0 loss.

“Brave 20: India” Co-Main Event

In the co-main event of the evening, John Brewin, 24, of Auckland, New Zealand faced Anas Siraj “The Moroccan Sensation” Mounir, 32, of Morocco in the lightweight division. After three five-minute rounds, the Moroccan fighter won via unanimous decision.

Afghanistan, Brazil, Indian, Indonesia, Italy, Jordan, Morocco and New Zealand were also represented at “Brave 20: Hyderabad.” Check the complete fight card on Conan Daily.
