Afghanistan vs Japan: Ahmad Qais Jasoor, Masakazu Imanari fight at ‘ONE: Eternal Glory’ in Jakarta, Indonesia

Afghanistan and Japan are among the 16 countries to be represented at “ONE: Eternal Glory” at the Istora Senayan in Jakarta, Indonesia on January 19, 2019. It is the first event of ONE Championship in 2019.

Featured on the fight card are one Muay Thai bout, one kickboxing contest and 12 mixed martial arts matches. In the fourth bout of the evening, “Lycanthrope” Ahmad Qais Jasoor, 29, of Kabul, Afghanistan will face Masakazu “Ashikan Judan” Imanari, 42, of Tokyo, Japan.

Imanari was born in Hadano, Kanagawa, Japan on February 10, 1976. A Brazilian Jiu-jitsu black belt, he is known for his signature leglock style called the Imanari Roll and his grappling move the Imanari Choke, which is a combination of an omoplata and a rear naked choke.

As an MMA fighter, Imanari has been competing professionally since 2000. When he made his ONE Championship debut at “ONE: War of the Lions” on March 31, 2012, he won via heel hook submission against Kevin “The Silencer”Belingon, 31, of Kiangan, Ifugao, Philippines, who is now the reigning ONE Bantamweight World Champion.

“ONE: Eternal Glory” marks Imanari’s sixth ONE Championship bout. He is coming out of an armbar submission victory over Radeem Rahman, 31, of Singapore at “ONE: Pursuit of Greatness” on October 26, 2018.

A former Hosharafu Fighting Championship Bantamweight Champion, Jasoor is the first ever Afghan MMA fighter to compete and even in ONE Championship. He started his martial arts training with kung fu at the age of 4 and transitioned to boxing when he was 12 years old.

In 2014, Jasoor graduated from Tajik State Medical University in Dushanbe, Tajikistan with a degree in Medicine. He worked as a doctor at a local hospital before becoming a full-time MMA fighter.

“ONE: Eternal Glory” marks Jasoor’s third ONE Championship bout. He is coming out of a knockout victory against “Tank” Ma Xu Dong, 27, of Xi’an, China.

“ONE: Eternal Glory” Main Events

In the main event of “ONE: Eternal Glory,” Yosuke “Tobizaru” Saruta, 31, of Saitama, Japan will challenge Joshua “The Passion” Pacio, 22, of La Trinidad, Benguet, Philippines.


In the co-main event, Puja Tomar, 25, of Muzaffernaga, India will face Priscilla “Thathi” Hertati Lumban Gaol, 30, of Jakarta, Indonesia in the women’s atomweight division.


Australia, Brazil, Cambodia, China, England, France, India, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Russia, Singapore, the Netherlands and the Philippines will also be represented at “ONE: Eternal Glory.” Check the complete fight card here.
