India vs Jordan: Nelson Paes, Ali al-Qaisi fight at ‘Brave 20: Hyderabad’

India and Jordan were among the 10 countries represented at “Brave 20: Hyderabad” at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad, India on December 22, 2018. It was the second event of Bahrain-based mixed martial arts promotion Brave Combat Federation to take place in India.

“Brave 20: India” featured nine MMA matches. The sixth bout of the evening was a battle between Nelson Paes of Goa, Konkan, India and Ali “The Royal Fighter” al-Qaisi, 28, of Amman, Jordan.

Al-Qaisi was originally set to face Abdul “The Cutman” Muneer, 33, of Kozhikode, Kerala, India at “Brave 20: Hyderabad.” The latter was pulled out from the card due to a shoulder injury and was replaced by Paes.

Blue Corner

Paes is the head trainer at Strikers MMA Club, a gym in Calangute, Goa that he co-founded. He has been competing professionally since 2013.

“Brave 20: India” marked Paes’s second Brave CF bout. His promotional debut, which was against Rolando “The Incredible” Dy, 27, of the Philippines at “Brave 5: Go for Glory” on April 23, 2017, ended in a No Contest due to accidental head clash.

Red Corner

Al-Qaisi studied Accounting and Finance at Jami’at Al-Ulum Al-Tatbiqiya in Shafa Badran, Amman, Jordan from 2009 to 2012. As an MMA fighter, he has been competing professionally since 2015.

A wushu stylist, Al-Qaisi is training out of Phuket Top Team Muay Thai and MMA Training Camp in Phuket, Thailand. He made his Brave CF debut at “Brave 20: India,” which marked his ninth professional MMA bout.

Fight Result

Paes and al-Qaisi competed in the featherweight division at “Brave 20: Hyderabad.” The referee put a stop to the contest in the first round when the Jordanian fighter submitted his Indian opponent via arm bar and triangle choke.

Winning at “Brave 20: Hyderabad” improved al-Qaisi’s professional MMA record to 6 wins and 3 losses. On the other hand, Paes now has 4 wins, 5 losses and 1 No Contest.

“Brave 20: India” Main Events 

In the co-main event of the evening, John Brewin, 24, of Auckland, New Zealand faced Anas Siraj “The Moroccan Sensation” Mounir, 32, of Morocco in the lightweight division. After three five-minute rounds, the Moroccan fighter won via unanimous decision.

In the main event, Khamzat “Borz” Chimaev of Sweden and Sidney “The All-American Kid” Wheeler, 22, of Dalton, Georgia competed in the middleweight division. The Swedish fighter knocked out his American opponent in the first round.

Afghanistan, Brazil, England, Indonesia, Italy, Morocco, New Zealand, Sweden and the United States were also represented at “Brave 20: Hyderabad.” Check the complete fight card on Conan Daily.
