[PHOTOS] Indonesia vs Cambodia: Abro Fernandes, Chan Rothana fight at ‘ONE: Destiny of Champions’ in Malaysia

Indonesia and Cambodia were among the 16 countries represented at “ONE: Destiny of Champions” on December 7, 2018. The fight card featured seven mixed martial arts matches and four Muay Thai contests.

ONE Championship held “ONE: Destiny of Champions” at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In the second bout of the evening, Abro Fernandes, 28, of Surakarta, Central Java, Indonesia faced Chan Rothana, 32, of Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Originally, Fernandes and Rothana were scheduled to face each other at “ONE: Heart of a Lion” at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore on November 9, 2018. However, the bout was cancelled.

Blue Corner

Training out of Selapak, Rothana is a former Khun Khmer practitioner who transitioned to mixed martial arts in 2014. He is a former ONE Cambodia Featherweight GP finalist.

“ONE: Destiny of Champions” marked Rothana’s seventh ONE Championship bout. He and Sovannahry Em, 26, were the only Cambodian fighters on the card.

Red Corner

Training out of Han Academy and Indo Gym, Fernandes is a former Indonesian bantamweight champion known for his strong grappling skills. He previously competed in One Pride MMA.

The Indonesian MMA fighter made his ONE Championship debut at “ONE: Destiny of Champions.” Entering the cage as an undefeated fighter and a ONE Championship debutante, he was the only Indonesian fighter on the card.

Fight Result

Rothana and Fernandes competed in an MMA bout in the flyweight division. Kemp Cheng served as the referee.

Cheng put a stop to the flyweight bout between Rothana and Fernandes after 4 minutes and 6 seconds in the second round. The Cambodian contender knocked out his Indonesian opponent.

This made Rothana the first fighter to defeat Fernandes. The Indonesian fighter now has 7 wins and 1 loss.

Winning at “ONE: Destiny of Champions” improved Rothana’s professional MMA record to 5 wins and 3 losses. It is the Cambodian fighter’s fourth win in ONE Championship.

“ONE: Destiny of Champions” Main Events

In the co-main event of the evening, Agilan “Alligator” Thani, 23, of Malaysia and Kiamrian Abbasov, 25, of Kyrgyzstan competed in an MMA match in the welterweight division. The Kyrgyzstani contender submitted his Malaysian opponent via rear-naked choke in the first round.

In the main event, Yodsanklai “The Hero” IWE Fairtex, 32, of Thailand took on Luis “Macaco” Regis, 33, of Australia in a ONE Super Series Muay Thai contest. The Thai contender knocked out is Australian opponent in the first round.

Australia, Brazil, Chinese Taipei, Greece, Japan, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Portugal, Russia, Thailand, Ukraine, the United Kingdom and the United States were also represented at “ONE: Destiny of Champions.” Check the complete fight results on Conan Daily.
