Hailing from Prakhon Chai, Buriram, Thailand, Sorgraw Petchyindee Academy, 25, will return to the ONE Super Series ring at “ONE: Heart of the Lion.” It will be his second appearance in the striking-only league of ONE Championship.
“ONE: Heart of the Lion” will be the second and final ONE Championship event in Singapore in 2018. It will take place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore on November 9, 2018.
In the 12th bout of the evening, Sorgraw will face Giorgio “The Doctor” Petrosyan, 32, of Gorizia, Italy. They will compete in a kickboxing contest in a catch weight of 71 kg.
A win over Petrosyan will definitely put Sorgraw among the best of the best in the world. The Thai contender said, “I am truly excited for the opportunity to share the cage with such a highly regarded fighter on such a big platform.”
Sorgraw is a Lumpinee Muay Thai World Champion. When he made his ONE Super Series debut at “ONE: Spirit of a Warrior,” which took place at the Thuwunna Indoor Stadium in Yangon on June 29, 2018, he defeated Samy “AK47” Sana, 29, of France via unanimous decision.
For Sorgraw, the stage was not always this big. The Prakhon Chai native began training at just 10 years old in a makeshift gym and soon after began to compete professionally to help make some money for the family.
“I remember being so excited for my first fight,” Sorgraw shared. “As soon as it was over, I wanted to do it again.”
Now, Sorgraw is working on making a name for himself on the biggest martial arts stage in the world after making a name for himself in his home country. He said, “I always watched ONE Championship on TV, never thinking I would get an opportunity like that for myself.”
