Fighting out of Waziristan, Pakistan, Najam Khan was one of the hometown heroes who competed at “Brave 17” at the Nishtar Park Sports Complex in Lahore, Pakistan on October 27, 2018. It marked the Brave Combat Federation debut of the Pakistani mixed martial artist, who works as a gardener to make ends meet.

Khan faced Mohammad Wasim of Afghanistan at “Brave 17” in the welterweight division. Their welterweight bout was the second bout of the evening.

Representing Team Fight Fortress, the gardener from Waziristan made his compatriots proud as he made his successful debut in the Bahrain-based MMA promotion. He defeated his Afghan opponent via technical submission via ninja choke.

The bout seemed to slip off from the hands of Khan as Wasim made successful takedowns. As the bout entered the third round, the Pakistani contender received an illegal knee, which slowed the fighter down.

However, Wasim tried his best to stay out of Khan’s range. But by the end of the third round, the striker from Team Fight Fortress locked in a ninja choke as Wasim went for the takedown.

The choke was so deep that Wasim did not tap but was left cold and unconscious. This made Khan the first professional MMA fighter from Pakistan to secure a win in an international MMA event held in the country.

“Brave 17” also marked Khan’s professional MMA debut. From being an amateur athlete with a clean record, he is now a professional fighter with 1 win and 0 loss.

Years before becoming an MMA figher, Khan had to overcome polio. He was born with this condition that affected his ability to walk.

Despite the challenge, Khan was not willing to give up on his dreams to become a professional MMA fighter. Meanwhile, here is a “Brave 17” promo clip:
