Originally from Rayong Province, Thailand, Stamp Fairtex, 20, is the first ever female Thai athlete to be sponsored at Fairtex Training Center in Pattaya, Thailand. She will also be the second female Nak Muay to take part in the ONE Super Series, the striking-only league of ONE Championship.

As a female martial artist, Stamp has had to overcome a lot of cultural expectations to get to where she is today. The Muay Thai practitioner said, “The hardest thing was overcoming female stereotypes.”

“In Thailand, female Muay Thai athletes were not very culturally accepted,” Stamp continued. “Females are viewed as weak and are expected to act ladylike.”

“Every female who became a Muay Thai athlete has her passion,” the Rayong Province native added. “They want to be recognized, but in fact, they are not accepted by society.”

Now, with the rise of female Muay Thai, Stamp is as determined as ever to win a ONE Super Series world title in hopes of making her family proud. What she does not realize is that she has become a role model not only for Muay Thai practitioners but also for young girls in Thailand.

On October 6, 2018, Stamp will challenge reigning ONE Kickboxing Atomweight World Champion “Killer Bee” Kai Ting Chuang, 23, of Chinese Taipei. They will co-headline “ONE: Kingdom of Heroes” at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.

“ONE: Kingdom of Heroes” marks Chuang’s first title defense as the reigning ONE Kickboxing Atomweight World Champion. It also marks Stamp’s debut on the global stage for martial arts and her first ever kickboxing bout.

The bout against Chuang will enable Stamp to make a statement to the world that Thai female athletes are strong, capable individuals. At “ONE: Kingdom of Heroes,” thousands, if not millions, of Thai girls are expected to cheer on Stamp, their female Muay Thai idol.
