Vaughn Donayre
Hailing from Cebu, Philippines, Vaughn “The Spawn” Donayre, 38, is the most recent Filipino mixed martial artist to join Bahrain-based MMA promotion Brave Combat Federation. The lightweight contender will make his promotion debut at “Brave 16.”
On September 21, 2018, Brave CF will return to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates for “Brave 16.” One of the matches is a catchweight bout between Donayre and Flavio Serafim of Brazil.
The Brazilian contender is also making his Brave CF debut at “Brave 16.” He currently holds a a professional MMA record of 5 wins and 2 losses.
Serafim is riding a three-bout winning streak. In his most recent bout, which was on November 2, 2012 at “Abu Dhabi Warriors,” he submitted Andrew Nicola via armbar.
On the other hand, Donayre lost in his four most recent bouts. In the Cebu native’s most recent bout, which was at “ONE: Quest for Power” on January 14, 2017, he lost to Vincent “Magnivincent” Latoel, 39, of Deventer, Netherlands via unanimous decision.
Donayre has several fellow Filipino MMA fighters in Brave CF. Reigning Brave CF Bantamweight Champion Stephen “The Sniper” Loman, 23, is from Baguio City, Philippines.
Loman is training out of Team Lakay, a world-class MMA team based in Baguio City. He is the youngest reigning champion of Brave CF.
Aside from Loman, several Brave CF athletes are also representing Team Lakay. Among them are Jeremy “The Juggernaut” Pacatiw, 22, and Jomar Paac, 22, of Baguio City and Crisanto “The Slugger” Pitpitunge, 31, of Kapangan, Benguet, Philippines.
Brave CF can be a good avenue for Donayre to redeem himself. Before joining the Bahrain-based MMA promotion, the Cebu native competed in five ONE Championship bouts.
One of the opponents Donayre faced in ONE Championship was Team Lakay warrior Honorio “The Rock” Banario, 28, of Mankayan, Benguet. The fighter from Cebu lost to the Team Lakay fighter at “ONE: Global Rivals” on April 15, 2016 via unanimous decision.
