“Thrilla in Manila” was the last part of the boxing trilogy featuring the late legends Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier. It is one of the best events in the sport’s history and Ringstar Boxing CEO Scott Farrell has expressed his intention to resurrect it with Manny “Pac-Man” Pacquiao, 39.

Ringstar Boxing was founded by Farrell in 2016. He recently announced, “I would like to bring the ‘Thrilla’ back to Manila like it was back in 1975 with Muhammad Ali.”

Ali became the World Boxing Association/World Boxing Council/The Ring/Lineal Heavyweight Champion by knocking out Frazier at “Thrilla in Manila” on October 1, 1975. The historic sports event took place at the Philippine Coliseum, now known as the Araneta Coliseum, in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines.

On July 15, 2018, Pacquiao became the new World Boxing Association Regular Welterweight Champion by knocking out Lucas “La Maquina” Matthysse, 35, of Argentina at “Fight of Champions.” Produced by MP Productions, the event took place at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

“I want to give the people of the Philippines the chance to watch their own hero and boxing legend Senator Manny Pacquiao defend his belt or fight for another world title on his home ground,” Farrell stated. “Let’s make this even bigger and more productive and donate all ticket sales to the Manny and Jinkee Foundation and really make everything about his fight a positive step forward not only for the sport but also for the people of the Philippines.”

“I have worked tirelessly to put Asian boxing on the world map,” the Ringstar Boxing CEO added. “This would be another gigantic step in my mission. Come on, MP promotions. Let’s sit down and discuss something truly incredible and very achievable.”

If Pacquiao’s next bout takes place in Manila in 2019, it will be his 70th professional boxing match. Watch the “Fight of Champions” press conference in the Philippines here:
