Sanda is superior martial art, ONE Championship’s Tang De Pan wants to prove so

Also known as Chinese kickboxing, sanda is one of the underutilized martial arts in mixed martial arts. One of the fighters who use this self-defense system is ONE Championship athlete “The Demolition Man” Tang De Pan, 26, who hails from Yongzhou in the Hunan province of China.

Tang wants to prove the effectiveness of sanda against other styles and disciplines. Determined to challenge himself on the greatest stage possible, he aims to see how well he matches up against the best martial artists in the world in ONE Championship.

The Chinese MMA fighter took the first step towards his goal at “ONE: Dynasty of Champions (Changsha)” upon his ONE Championship debut in 2016, knocking out fellow countryman Zhou Biao via spectacular highlight-reel slam. After three bouts in the promotion, Tang now has 2 wins and 1 loss.

Competing in ONE Championship for the fourth time, Tang is scheduled to face Fu Chang Xin, 25, who is from Harbin, Heilongjiang, China at “ONE: Battle for the Heavens” on July 7, 2018. The two Chinese MMA fighters will compete in the bantamweight division.

In 2011, Tang began training in martial arts because he loved the fun and excitement of competition and has never stopped growing his skill set since. In his professional MMA career, he has not competed in other promotions aside from ONE Championship.

Taking place at the Guangzhou Tianhe Gymnasium in Guangzhou, China, “ONE: Battle for the Heavens” will be headlined by Yodcherry Sityodtong, 19, of Thailand and Kai Ting “Killer Bee” Chuang, 23, of Chinese Taipei. The winner will be the very first ONE Super Series Kickboxing Atomweight World Champion. .

“World-class martial arts makes a triumphant return to the beautiful city of Guangzhou with another spectacular event,” ONE Championship chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong stated. He added that Yodcherry and Chuang will be joined by “several of the very best martial arts talent from China and the world.”

The last time Tang won in the cage was on December 9, 2017 at “ONE: Warriors of the World” in Bangkok, Thailand where he defeated Asraful “The Warrior” Islam of Dhaka, Bangladesh via unanimous decision. Watch the bout here:
