Fighting out of Cambodia, Khmer Warrior Challenge Champion Meas Meul, 28, has been competing in ONE Championship since 2014. His fifth bout in the promotion will take place at the Guangzhou Tianhe Gymnasium in Guangzhou, China on July 7, 2018 at “ONE: Battle for the Heavens.”

Meul is looking to end his two-bout losing streak. To redeem himself, he has to defeat Zhao Zhi Kang, 23, of China at “ONE: Battle for the Heavens.”

The Cambodian mixed martial artist and his Chinese opponent will compete at a catchweight of 68 kg. It will be the fifth among the 10 bouts on the card.

At an early age, Meul began training in Kun Khmer to deal with bullying in his childhood. Shortly after, Meul realized opportunities to build a professional martial arts career and began to focus on training in other disciplines.

Aside from Kun Khmer, Meul is well-versed in judo, wrestling and boxing, among others. He became a five-time national champion in judo while compiling an unblemished record of 13 wins and 0 loss in Kun Khmer.

In 2014, Meul made his successful professional MMA debut. Since then, he has racked up several impressive victories with the majority of his wins being finishes.

Training alongside the best martial artists in Cambodia, Meul looks to become the first from his country to win a world championship in MMA. He currently holds a professional MMA record of 5 wins and 2 losses.

“ONE: Battle for the Heavens” will be headlined by Yodcherry Sityodtong, 19, of Thailand and Kai Ting “Killer Bee” Chuang, 23, of Chinese Taipei for the inaugural ONE Super Series Kickboxing Atomweight World Championship. ONE Championship chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong stated, “World-class martial arts makes a triumphant return to the beautiful city of Guangzhou with another spectacular event.”
